Welcome!

We actually concentrate more on the websites than the spam here, too. Identifying brands is important for making sure spammers can't undermine our reporting by including innocent domain names in their emails.

BTW, see viewtopic.php?p=43722#p43722 about munging links. We try not to have live links to sites that don't deserve to have their search engine status boosted. (Also, people tend to use lower case "spam" as a courtesy to the poor company that makes SPAM processed meat. They have an impossible job trying to defend their trademark.)

Welcome! Someone likes foreign languages; I do, even if my own knowledge is limited.

Ask us questions, we like to answer if we know. Some of here know some answers, maybe not I, but I digress.

We wanted to post an introduction to those of us on this forum who don't know LegitScript (and, to those who do!). LegitScript is an Internet pharmacy verification and monitoring service recognized by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), which represents the pharmacy licensing boards in the United States. We are not exclusively "US-focused" and do work with companies and regulatory authorities worldwide. Much of our focus is in identifying, monitoring and investigating "rogue" Internet pharmacies that are engaged in illegal and/or dangerous activities. The most common activities we focus on are the sale of prescription drugs without a valid prescription; the sale of unregulated/substandard pharmaceuticals; the online sale of prescription drugs without a valid pharmacy license; and fraud, forgery or theft via online pharmacies.

We have a lot of respect and appreciation for the excellent work that happens via InBoxRevenge. Our missions have a lot of overlap.

We look forward to participating in the forum, and also welcome any notifications to LegitScript that you all see fit to provide. Before closing out, we'll explain our process.

If you have identified a rogue Internet pharmacy (whether or not engaged in spam), if you notify us about it, we classify it by affiliate network and it goes into our database, where the ISP and Registrar, etc. (names servers, WhoIs, etc.) is queried. We are gradually developing more relationships with Registrars who agree to suspend domain names based on our designation of a website as a "rogue" Internet pharmacy, and we have a fairly good track record in getting major rogue Internet pharmacy domain names suspended. However, we do coordinate with regulatory authorities worldwide for deconfliction, so in some cases it may appear that we "haven't done anything" about a particular website when in fact we are just in a waiting period.

Additionally, we do compile investigative reports on rogue Internet pharmacy networks, and we do have relationships with some investigative authorities. We strongly encourage individuals with actionable intelligence or information about these rogue networks to convey the information to LegitScript, where we can synthesize and process the information and (most of the time) make sure it gets noticed by the appropriate authority.

Thanks to all of you for your excellent work in this area.

Welcome! Yeah, if you want lists of illegitimate domains, you'll get an earful here. A lot reported here probably are set up and shut down before they get reported to you, too, as when we find a new one, we try to root out the rest of the brood before they get spammed.

A big welcome to LegitScript.
You will probably be aware of the thread at viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4047

We all look forward to a fruitful working relationship.
Can you clarify the best method of domain name reporting?

I envisage that your service may be best used as a last resort when our current reporting methods don't bring about suspensions.

In that they are documenting for law enforcement and also running a domain-checking index like SA or MyWOT, it's probably good to do both.

Welcome! And thank you for your great works,LegitScript!!

I really likes your reports :) .
Especially, "ten common Registrar excuses dissected" in this report is my most favorite chapter.

I hope your reports are translated into as many languages as possible and are read as many Registrars, lawyers and anti-spammers as possible .

Hi all,

Just to introduce myself:

I'm on twitter - @ispamh8 ,
I have an aboutus.org profile - http://www.aboutus.org/User:IH8spam

I maintained a quote website just for friends in 2001 and became aware of scale of the massive scale involved when I started getting backscatter from spammers forging my domain as a bounce address in revenge for reporting their spam to spamcop.

After getting tired of spam from wordmash domains, like "targetready.com" I tried unsubscribing, even though i never subscribed to the email. This merely increased the deluge.

My goal is to take down the rx-promotion family of websites/ spammers, and looking for advice on whether it would be feasible to co-ordinate a mass reporting day for the nameservers I've been collecting.

I've found the icann data problem report tool to be useful in taking down a large part of the revenue stream of the spammers, but they seem to be coping by registering more and more domains.

Eventually, i'm going to just change my email address, but until I move all my correspondence to individual custom email addresses, I would like to damage as much revenue of the pill spammers as i can.

I would love to know if anyone is working on using yahoo pipes to work on a mashup of alexa/google page ranks, uribl feeds and mywot/siteadvisor/reputation sites to create a prioritised target list for take down via icann data problem report - if contacts are false (which they usually are), and reporting to IC3 and such.

If there is a day of spam action or anything like this, I would like to join in on this kind of activity, as i feel that surges and interruptions in steady income are more likely to make spammers think about alternative revenue, hopefully of a legal kind.

Hi, welcome!

I wouldn't necessarily go for the mass spamcop reporting. One of the criticisms of spamcop is that it generates a new email for every spam report, even though they're all identical. If you're an ISP and there are hundreds of spamcop reports in your inbox, it may be more trouble than it's worth to find the unique reports. Once a domain is already blacklisted, there are diminishing returns.

Hello ih8spam

Lurked your aboutus.org page; pleased to meet you :)

I'm pretty quiet here... more "voiced" over at WOT forum.
