You can research malicious IPs on some of the sites below that may be spamming, involved in IRC botnets, portscanning, etc here:

iprcenter.gov appears to be an effective way to report forum spammers, who are frequently spamming counterfeit merchandise. They had several takedowns recently:

A spammer website shut down is great. A spammer arrested and his merchandise seized is better.

This also happened yesterday:

Quote:
Police seize millions in counterfeit goods

Police say they have seized about $3.5 million in counterfeit goods, including jackets with chicken parts in the down and German shepherd hair in the trim on their hoods.

Knock-off erectile dysfunction drugs, stuffed toys, beauty products, electronics, sports jerseys and handbags were among the counterfeit items seized during the November operation, dubbed Project Consumer Safety, police said. It was one of the largest such seizures in Toronto history.

btw I'm going to see what the response rate is in reporting these spammed urls to the DHS.

There could be an opportunity to automate the reporting of spammed urls directly to their crackdown address. Never know.

Every xmas: break out the fake watches / shoes / jackets spam. So ridiculous.

That's the sort of idea I like to hear. Any new avenue to hit these miscreants is worth pursuing.

The posts on a lot of spammer-ridden forums are pretty fertile hunting. With an automated reporter, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. We'd need to be able to glance over the domains to pull out the legit ones, though.

I did an initial test yesterday: 45 domains from three spamming accounts. I received a pleasant reply encouraging me to please send more, so that is a morning routine now. Takes a bit of time manually, but it's worth it.

Will update when / if I see shutdowns.
