No idea. This has happened previously with previous versions of their abuse forms, dating back to at least 2008.

Google will index it because Blogger is a Google property, and it gets indexed thoroughly on a really frequent basis. However I probably have a ways to go since there are numerous major media articles with the title "Open letter to Marissa Mayer" (or some variation thereof.) I tweeted about it:

And otherwise have not yet mentioned it elsewhere. I made sure that several contacts at Yahoo were immediately made very much aware of it.

I am not expecting notable results in a quick timeframe. It's Yahoo. They have had this problem since they have existed.

Ohhh update: my blog post shows up on page 4 of Google's search results for "open letter to Marissa Mayer" (without quotes) right at the top. That isn't bad for just three days, especially with no focused effort to encourage visibility.

If you add the word "nigerian" (again, without quotes), my story is result #2 on the first page of results.

Assuming that I'm an average Joe and this is the way that I usually search —
search terms: report nigerian scam yahoo
When searched for "past week" updates, Google returns the ikillspammers open letter as item #7 on page #1
When searched for "past month" updates, Google returns the ikillspammers open letter as the last item on page #2

Adding the term "email" boosts the position to item #3 on page #1 for the "past week"

BTW, I think that Google customizes its results for particular users who are logged in. I wasn't logged in, but big brother knows my IP address.

My average Joe inclination would be to use the Yahoo search service, too. Only I don't know how to limit the results to new webpages. I gave up after the first 100 results. (Yeah, I've read that top Yahoo executives prefer Google's search.)

Your new blog post may not figure prominently yet, but if you search:

where do I report nigerian spam to yahoo?

you have positions 8 and 9 on the first page of Google, one for an older blog post, and one for a mention on this forum. There's also a spamwiki mention on page 6, though it's out of date.

Editing those or adding comments to reference each other would improve the search standing of all of them.

Back after being locked out for a period of time. (Our servers have excellent security, but if I make a mistake, goodnight. Locked out.)

I haven't had time to write an SEOInfratech story just yet but yes I should. They really are among the stupidest people in the SEO "industry" (whatever that means in 2013.)
