Hi

Long time no see. :)

I just wanted to update you all about a recent modification I made which I can't discuss in detail.

I made a modification to the script "posting.php" which handles all of the topic posting functionality in phpBB. This modification is specific to the Esteemed Guests forum, since we have a bunch of (ridiculously stupid) forum spammers posting there. I'm automating the reporting of their urls to the appropriate authorities. Doing so caused some issues with posting and replying throughout this forum. Much thanks are due to Red Dwarf who was diligent about letting me know about the issues and following up with individuals who were trying to post but could not.

If you find anything else that's acting weirdly in the posting section, please let me know. (PM is fine.)

That should be 100% fixed now btw.

Thanks for reading

SiL

Some of the 'esteemed guests' are currently in the top 20 for posts at the moment, is there any chance of prefixing their counts with non alpha numeric characters or some such as I would grudge even the slight reward of high post ranking to them?

I can't see a way to reset their post counts without deleting the posts. At least their rank will always be, "I'm an ass. I deserve to die."

There is, indeed, no way to do that. We could kill off their user accounts. Or suspend them. That removes them from the count (I think.)
