Novaya Gazeta is the leading independent newspaper in Russia, owned in part by former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev. Five of their journalists have been murdered, which makes you wonder why anyone thinks a DDoS would silence them. Their stories are being mirrored on novayagazeta.livejournal.com

yea, DDoSing from Russia is apparently extending into other areas (apparent political entities), besides former Soviet satellites' and/or Soviet Republics' websites. :twisted:

It sounds like such targeting may worsen and expand into other areas online besides foreign government websites and media (newspapers).

The attack began Jan. 26 at 9 am Moscow time. Any particular spam drop off about that time?

I can only speak for myself and maybe six others I know, but my volume overall is wayyyy down over the past two weeks.
