We are happy to report that services have been stabilized, though we are still under attack. The fiber company was able to carve out enough of the trouble to allow us to bring service back online.

At this point we are still working on stopping the ongoing attack.

This was a distributed denial of service attack on a specific IP address where the attackers sent packets with dirty data that caused problems all the way to the core routers.

We still have more work to do. We will send a detailed explanation once the attack has been stopped and we can fully articulate everything that has occurred today.

The tier 1 fiber company is currently in a live conference call with security engineers from Cisco, trying to identify and determine a method to stop the Denial of Service Attack. The attack goes all the way up to the third set of routers. They have never seen this level of attack before, nor could any redundancy have prevented the disruption of service we are experiencing.
