Fantastic.

All involved in a large scale, organized phishing operation. These were the ones responsible for several Bank of America phishing setups posted in numerous locations last October.

Romanian police have really been stepping things up over the past several months. Really good to see.

I was told you could throw a rock somewhere in Romania and most likely hit some cybercriminal since there are so many there, so with this in mind, I wonder when there will be larger sweeping arrests, because it looks like that may very well happen.

Well so far:

May 2008 (two years ago this week):

38 individuals indicted in Romania in a joint Romanian / FBI investigation to shut down a large phishing organization:

Many of them were immediately placed in prison awaiting trial.

July 2008:
22 more romanians arrested and charged, further fallout of the above investigation.

1 year ago this week:

Sergiu Daniel Popa sentenced to eight years

Last September:
2 phishers extradited to the US, currently still in prison awaiting trial, both facing 30 years in prison once convicted

Last November:
Four Romanian individuals indicted in Atlanta for hacking ATM's

And now this one. It's been surprisingly regular, and oddly seems to always occcur or be announced in May. (Coincidence?)
