Most of these arrests are for DDOS perpetrators.

More interesting is the arrest of LulzSec member "tFlow" in South London.
Solomon Saleh

At various places on the Internet, there have been attempts to unmask the LulzSec members, and here is a compendium of some of those, found in Google searches

HANDLE - RUMORED IDENTITY and (ADDRESS)
Uncommon - Richard Fontaine (Bangor, Gwynedd - From Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire)
Laurelai - Laurelai Bailey AKA Wesley Bailey (Davenport, Iowa)
Topiary - Daniel Ackerman Sandberg (Sweden) (?) - Edit: August 1 - UK Police arrested Jake Davis, 18, from the Shetland Islands, north of Scotland
Avunit - Christopher Ellison (Location: Colchester, Essex)
Sabu - Hector Xavier Montsegur (New York, NY) Puerto Rican
tFlow - Solomon Saleh (London, UK)
Joepie91 - Sven Slootweg (Wijnstraat 211 3311BV Dordrecht, Netherlands)

Fox News is a Rupert Murdoch company. I guess they ought to know how to find hackers.

On the one hand, I cannot let that remark go unchallenged.

On the other hand, I cannot think of any counter argument. Would not it be ironic if at this very moment, Murdoch's NewsCorp International may be hacking into Solomon Saleh's cell phone.

UK Police name the 18-year-old arrested at Yell in the Shetland Islands as Jake Davis

http://t.co/R3yTFl4

Previous rumors rnade the story that the true identity of Lulzsec media spokesman "Topiary" was a Swedish citizen, called Daniel Ackerman Sandberg. This was based on the similarity in voice and pronunciation between Topiary as interviewed (voice only over Skype) and identified media clips by Daniel Sandberg. There were also leaked chat sessions supposedly showing Topiary as being a Swede who was trying to throw suspicion on someone from the UK or Scotland. That could have been a deliberately leaked transcript used as a red herring, a double bluff set up as a defense. (Plausible deniability)

However, the UK Police are aware of all this, and are confidently pressing ahead with the arrest and immediate court appearance of Jake Davis.

From http://www.dailypress.com/technology/sn ... 0332.story
1st August 2011

Jake Davis, 18, used a network of 16 machines at his home in the Shetland Islands. He is alleged to be a leading member of the LulzSec hacking group. He had 750,000 people’s personal details on his computer system when he was arrested.

He spoke only to confirm his name and address, and was granted conditional bail at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Judge Howard Riddle ordered him to be released on bail until his next court appearance scheduled for August 30th.

Bail Condition Restrictions:
He may not use the Internet and he must wear an electronic sensor tag.
He has an overnight curfew and must reside at his mother's home in central England.

UK Police are putting out a reminder to hacktivists. - http://www.tweetdeck.com/twitter/metpoliceuk/~0kdRj

Unauthorised access to a computer system, with or without updates to the system - up to 2 years in prison

Unauthorised access which prevent use of the system (eg DDOS) - up to 10 years in prison.

The video on David Hackman's TV program showing Topiary defacing the Westboro Baptist Church Website live while being interviewed is pretty convincing evidence.

Another two arrests, one is the Sony hacker with the handle "Recursion".
A sobering reminder -
"Wannabe hackers might be wise to read the FBI's press release about the Kretsinger arrest, which points out that if convicted of the hacking offences he could face up to 15 years in prison."

When you flip the head of a movement, it's not that easy to have him work undercover. He can't change his way of doing things without it being obvious, but he can't continue his way of doing things without it being entrapment. The reports sound like he was still actively encouraging people to violate laws. They'll have trouble getting any convictions with that kind of evidence.

Perhaps they're hoping just to locate people, seize their computers, and have their hard drives implicate them in crimes preceding the date Sabu flipped.

This is good. I can't stand DDOS. I hate it when my sites get hit with ddos, knocking them out for days at a time, and sometimes being told that I need to pay a ransom to bring them back online.
