Moscow City Court jury late Friday found spammer Leonid Kuvaeva guilty of sex crimes against minors

In 2002 Kuvayev became an American citizen. He was actively involved in the spread of spam, DDOS-attacks, the sale of banned dietary supplements over the Internet, and the proliferation of child pornography.

Fleeing from prosecution in the U.S., Kuvayev with his wife and two children returned to Russia in 2004.

He was handed over to the court on criminal charges in May 30, 2011. Kuvayev admitted that he engaged in sexual relationships with minors, but insisted that the girls were consenting.

Judge Alexander Zamashnyuk pronounced the court verdict on Thursday based on the jury ruling that found Kuvayev guilty of 33 out of 35 criminal episodes by a majority of votes. He was acquitted of two counts, including raping. Meanwhile, the jury found that the defendant deserves leniency on several proved episodes.

The public prosecutor demanded 22 years in prison for Kuvayev during criminal proceedings.

The spammer will serve the sentence at a tough security penitentiary. The term of sentence began since July 1, 2009.
