Two Registrars Lose ICANN Accreditation
9 February 2010

ICANN terminated its accreditation agreement with two registrars ISPREG LTD and SBNames Ltd for failure to comply with the requirements of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), the contract between ICANN and registrars that governs the registration of domain names under generic top-level domains such as dot-com and dot-org.

Letters have been sent to each registrar outlining the decision and reason behind the decision.

To protect registrants, ICANN has initiated a process to identify a qualified and accredited registrar to take over management of the domain names formerly managed by ISPREG LTD and SBNames Ltd through a bulk transfer. Guidance is provided below for registrants who may be affected by this action.

No kidding...seems to me that any registrar that averages 90% illegally spamvertized would be a guaranteed loss of registration.

My thoughts exactly......and well. I don't think I ever saw any spam domains even using these 2 registrars? :) hehe. They need to kill the accreditation on some of the other high hitters.....

SBNames used to be bad a few years back. I think it was based in New Zealand then? Or am i thinking of PACNAMES?

ICANN just discovered (!) that Scott Richter is 100% owner of Dynamic Dolphin -- helped by Brian Krebs tracking down information an old grand theft conviction against Scottie.

So in that rarest of events, they lost accreditation for some reason other than not paying their fees.
